Youth Group Stars
The Youth Group members were asked to write "why they like being involved in the Youth Group" and some responded with these words and gave their favorite Bible passages below:
Hi. . . I am Lauren Marschall, age 16 and a very active youth member. I've been a part of GS youth group for 5 years and have been a part of church events my entire life. As a high school student, I've been to countless events, most of them through DYG and also Youthquakes and in 2007 NYG. I like to socialize with others as we share worship.
I am Lauren Johnson, and I'm 12 years old, and I've been with the Youth Group for about a year and a half. I have experienced a lot in youth group. I've enjoyed practically all of the things I've done here. I've also grown into a better Lutheran. It is a lot of fun being part of this youth group.
Good Shepherd Lutheran Youth Group goes to a lot of fun places, does fun group activities, and volunteers to do things for the church and different causes.
We've gone to fun places like Lutheran camps and other fun places. We've also gone caroling to local members who are shut in.
Psalm 91:15--He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
My favorite thing we do as a youth group is our summers at the beach. The beach is a fun place to hang out. I especially love the bon fires at the beach because we make s'mores and tell funny stories of things that happened throughout the week!
Rev.22:17--Let him that is at thirst come. And whosoever will, let him take of the Water of Life freely.
James 1: 17--Every good gift and every perfect present comes from heaven.
Micah 7:7--I will look to the Lord; my God will hear me.
My name is Annie and I am 12. My favorite thing about Good Shepherd Lutheran youth group was District Youth Gathering (DYG). We went to a college campus and there were a couple hundred people. Some times Bible study can be boring and [they] made it fun for kids to learn it. These were a lot of activities also.
Psalm 70:1-2--Hasten O God to save me; O Lord come quickly to help me. May those who seek my life be put to shame and confusion; May all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.
Psalm 71:2--Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness; turn your ear to me and save me.
My hope for the future of youth group is to have more people join and for all of us to grow in our faith of Christ.
I enjoy youth group because if its fellowship with other Christians my age, we generally have fellowship and learn of our Lord together. I also enjoy the calm and friendly atmosphere that is the youth group. All of this is definately motivation for anyone to join. . . Steven Ruyf
The things I like about youth group are the activities, fundraisers and the lessons we learn in youth group. My favorite thing that we have done are that in July of 2007 we went to the National Youth Gathering also also Youthquakes. Youth Group is fun and I enjoy going to church. My favorite activity so far was the Florida trip to NYG.
The fundraisers that we have done are the love dinner that we do each year. We have made jewelry and had bake sales, we have also done car washes.
