Homework is given to enhance and reinforce daily learning.  It also gives parents the opportunity to see what their child is learning and assess your child's progress.  A small amount of homework will be given in the form of a homework packet given on Friday and turned in the following Thursday.  Everyday there will be a reading or phonics assignment once children begin their reading books.  It is very important for parents to do the reading assignment with your child.  Initial your child's daily calendar so they can receive their monthly  reading reward.   It is a wonderful time of fun and bonding with your child as you read with them 15 to 20 minutes a day.  Your child will reap the benefits of learning how to be a good reader as you model your reading skills.
