Homework is given to enhance and reinforce daily learning.  It also gives parents the opportunity to see what their child is learning and assess your child's progress.  A small amount of homework will be given in the form of a homework packet given on Monday to do during the week.  The packet is returned on Friday.  Everyday there will be a reading or phonics assignment once children begin their reading books.  It is very important for parents to do the reading assignment with your child.  You may also want to read to or with your child every day.  It is a wonderful time of fun and bonding with your child.  Your child will reap the benefits of learning how to be a good reader as you model your reading skills.
