Classroom Management:
Children need to be nurtured and guided. I am committed to do all discipline in love and the best interest of your child. Children need an environment that is peaceful and in order to learn, feel safe, and be creative. I give lots of encouragement and positive reinforcement. We have a marble jar for the whole class to earn a special party once it is filled. I give table points for good cooperative tables. At the end of the week, the table with the most points, get to pick pencils from the pencil box. Whenever I notice a child who is kind, is a good helper, does exceptional work, stays or stays on task, I reward with a star or apple for their "good character pocket." We count them and put them on a chart regularily. When a child fills the chart (25 points), they get to pick something out of the treasure box. Also, students that did not go past yellow have the opportunity to participate in "Fun Friday." I also have a monthly calendar that show each day what color the child has earned. If the child stays in green with no more than three yellows, they may pick from the treasure box at the end of the month. As you can see, I have many opportunities for positive behavior management. For discipline, I use the "color card system."
Green - Great Job! :0)
Yellow - Oh Oh, Be Careful (Just a warning)
Orange - Oops! Take 5 (Time out to think about it)
Red - Yikes! Note home to parents
Look for the behavior chart in their kindergarten folder that goes home and comes back every day. Discuss your child's color. Encourage them and praise them. Help them make good choices if they got less than green. Know that all children are loved no matter what color they go home in. We always start a new day with green. Each child will be appreciated and understood for their individual personality. Some children just may need more guidance than others. I desire to work together and support one another in developing your child's good character. any concerns you may have, feel free to talk to me.
