Classroom Management:

     Children need to be nurtured and guided.  I am committed to do all discipline in love and done in the best interest of your child.  Children need an environment that is peaceful in order to learn, feel safe, and be creative.  I give much encouragement and positive reinforcement.  We have a marble jar for the whole class to earn a special party once it is filled.  I give table points for good cooperative tables. At the end of the week, the table with the most points receives a reward.  Whenever I notice children who do exceptional work and stay on task, I reward them with tokens to put in their "good character pocket."  We count them and put them on a chart regularily.  When a child fills the chart (25 points), they get to pick something out of the treasure box.  I also have a monthly calendar that shows each day what color the child has earned. Children who have a calendar full of green are acknowledged and rewarded. I believe children can be paid with tokens for work well done just as adults do who work and collect a pay check.  However, good character qualities need to be internalized and come from the heart.  They should be done out of love for God and others.   Therefore, children who are kind, helpful, caring, and respectful are rewarded with much praise and an occassional token.  As you can see, I have many opportunities for positive behavior management.  For discipline, I use the "color card system."

Green - Great Job! :0)

Yellow - Oh Oh, Be Careful (Just a warning)

Orange - Oops!  Take 5 (Time out to think about it)

Red - Yikes! Note home to parents

     Look for the behavior chart in their kindergarten folder that goes home and comes back every day.  Discuss your child's color.  Encourage them and praise them.  Help them make good choices if they received another color other than green.  Know that all children are loved no matter what color they go home in.  We always start a new day with green.  Each child will be appreciated and understood for their individual personality.  Some children just may need more guidance than others.  I desire to work together and support one another in developing your child's good character.  Any concerns you may have, feel free to talk to me.

GRADING: Grading will be relative to the amount of work.

E = Excellent Job!

G= Good Job!

S= Satisfactory - Nice Effort

N= Needs Improvement
