Welcome Parents / Guardians,
I am looking forward to having your child in my class for an exciting year of learning and growing. Kindergarteners are delightful, curious, and eager learners. I want to fill them with wonder as we learn to read write, study our number skills, and learn about the world and people God created. It is my goal to encourage them and give them a foundation for learning that includes academic knowledge, good study habits, love for learning, and a love and respect for God and others.
This will be my third year of teaching kindergarten at Good Shepherd Lutheran School and I am very privileged and blessed to be a part of a great school and staff. I received my BA from Azusa Pacific University in Human Development with an emphasis in elementary education. I received my California teaching credential from National University. I am currently working on my masters in cross-cultural education. My work experience includes three years of substitute teaching and twelve years in literacy and special education as an assistant in the public schools.
I believe every child has been designed by God with unique abilities and talents. I hope to be a part of nurturing and developing those abilities with activities that are interesting and fun as we learn together. It is my job to join you in teaching them knowledge, truth, and good character that will help them be successful. I am committed to creating an environment where children can learn.
I look forward to a great year working with you and your child and getting to know each one. I will see you at our “Welcome Home BBQ @ 4:30 p.m. and Meet-the-Teacher-Night @ 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on August 21, 2008. We will have a wonderful productive year as we support and pray for each other as we train and nurture your child to be all God created him or her to be. If you have any questions, always feel free to contact me.
Warm regards,
Ms. Shonalee Phillips
