Dear Parents / Guardians,
I am looking forward to having your child in my class for an exciting year of learning and growing. Kindergarteners are delightful, curious, and eager learners. I want to fill them with wonder as we learn to read, write, study our number skills, and learn about the world and people God created. It is my goal to encourage them and give them a foundation for learning that includes academic knowledge, good study habits, love for learning, and a love and respect for God and others.
This will be my sixth year of teaching kindergarten at Good Shepherd Lutheran School and I am very privileged and blessed to be a part of a great school and staff. I received my BA from Azusa Pacific University in Human Development with an emphasis in elementary education. I received my California teaching credential from National University. I am currently working on my masters in cross-cultural education. My work experience includes three years of substitute teaching and twelve years in literacy and special education as an assistant in the public schools.
I believe every child has been designed by God with unique abilities and talents. I hope to be a part of nurturing and developing those abilities with activities that are interesting and creative. I am committed to give my students a strong spiritual and academic foundation, along with creating an environment where children can learn. It is my job to differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all my students. My desire is to join you in teaching your child knowledge, truth, and good character that will help your child be successful.
I look forward to a great year working with you and your child and getting to know each one. We will have a wonderful productive year as we support and pray for each other as we train and nurture your child to be all God created him or her to be. If you have any questions, always feel free to contact me.
Warm regards,
Ms. Shonalee Phillips
