CLASS STANDARDS
CLASSROOM RULES:
Throughout the school year we will be learning and growing together. Therefore it is important that we treat each other with kindness and respect. According to Matthew 22:39, we are to "love your neighbor as yourself." With this in mind there are basic classroom rules that every student is to follow:
1. Respect Yourself
2. Respect Your Peers
3. Respect Authority
CONSEQUENCES:
1. Verbal Warning
2. Teacher Choice
3. Contact Parents
4. Parent Conference
5. Notation on Report Card
6. Detention
7. Referral
ROUTINE:
1. Students will be dropped off at the designated area at 8:15 a.m. Pick up is at 3:00 p.m.
2. Class begins at 8:30 a.m. Students should be in their seats with appropriate materials. If it is after 8:30 a.m., the student is tardy and will need to get a tardy slip from the office.
3. Pencils are sharpened before class or at breaks.
4. Bathroom breaks are to be done before class or at breaks. Emergency bathroom breaks will be given when necessary.
HOMEWORK:
1. It is the students’ responsibility to write assignments from the board into their assignment books. A parent or guardian must sign their student’s assignment book every night only if the parent has seen that their child has finished all of their homework for the next day.
2. All daily assignments are due the following day by 8:30 a.m. unless otherwise stated.
3. Corrected work will be sent home at the beginning of each week, along with a weekly newsletter. A parent or guardian must sign the folder that they have seen their child’s graded work.
4. Work that is not completed neatly (at the student’s best ability) will be marked down.
LATE ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Students are expected to turn in assignments at the time of collection. Work received after that time will receive a 10% penalty each day it is late.
2. Absences: When a student has an “Excused Absence,” they are granted one additional day for each day that they are absent to turn in their homework.
POSITIVE PRAISE:
1. Verbal Praise
2. “Credit Card” - Credits are given for positive behavior and can be used to buy prizes on auction days.
3. Positive note or phone call home.
COMMUNICATION:
As your child’s teacher, I greatly appreciate and encourage teacher-parent communication. Any information, concerns, or questions are welcomed.
