~Second graders have a weekly homework packet that is given out Mondays and due back Friday of the same week.
~Packets typically include: the weekly spelling list, the weekly memory verse, a weekly reading log, phonics and math skill sheets, and suggestions for spelling word activities.
*Note that reading logs can be returned the following Monday if your child is reading all five days.
~You can expect to see math homework from the math workbooks coming home 2-3 nights per week. Some students complete their math homework in class if they finish their seatwork page early.
~Parents are expected to check the homework side (always odd #d side that your child has written HW on), and initial at the top that you have checked it. Students do a self-check of the even #d page in class.
~Math homework is always due back the next day. Students forgetting to take home or do their math homework will sit out morning recess to complete it.
*Keep in mind that after 5 missing math homework pages or homework packets in each quarter grading period an after school detention will be expected. So please let me know if there are special circumstances why your child has incomplete homework. I truly understand that issues come up.
~When students are absent, they have as many days to complete their homework and any missed class assignments as the number of days they are absent. Advance notice is always helpful when possible. I am happy to prepare packets of make-up work in advance.
