Book-in-a-Bag is a home reading program to help students practice and reinforce the reading skills they are learning in class. Reading at home helps your child develop fluency and confidence. Each week's book(s) are chosen at or close to your child's ability level. Please follow the guidelines listed below.
- Try to have your child read from their chosen book(s) everyday. We are striving for fluency and accuracy. This comes with frequent readings.
- Ask your child comprehension questions about the story. Try having your child ask you questions about their book. Another strategy is to have your child retell the beginning, middle, and end of the story in sequence.
- Readings can count towards the Reading Log in the weekly homework packet.
- Books and bag are to be returned every Friday for a new book. Please help your child to be responsible for returning each and every book. All books are part of a class set.
Thank you for your participation, and happy reading!
