Dear Parents,
We are starting the 100 Minutes Reading Club on November 2nd!!! This program is designed to increase your child’s time spent reading purely for pleasure!
Please encourage your child to participate in this program. He or she may read independently or with your assistance (but please don’t record minutes when YOU are reading to your child). Feel free to read and record ANY books of your choice, including your “Take-Home Books/ Phonics Reading Books”.
Here’s how to use the sheet: Enter the date, title, and minutes spent reading. To ease record keeping, please do not go beyond 100 minutes per form; just continue on a new form. Your child will be responsible for picking up a new form as he or she turns one in. The last day to turn in forms is May 28th, 2009.
PRIZES
Every 100 minutes = a sticker
500 minutes = a special pencil
1,000 minutes = ice cream sandwich at recess
2,000 minutes = special lunch with the teacher (Date to be announced later)
