Mrs. Begando’s Welcome Message
Good Shepherd Lutheran Child Development Center began with just a few classrooms in our church building. Now, over a decade later, we have expanded to accommodate eleven different classrooms, serving children ages 18 months through Kindergarten. We are also building a new facility on campus to provide seven additional classrooms (scheduled for a fall, 2008 grand opening).
Our full operating hours are from 6:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., and we are a year-round program (August- August). Children need not be potty-trained to attend. We offer two-day, three-day and five-day programs for half or full days. Half day morning is from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon or we also have afternoon preschool from 12:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. Full day children can come during our full operating hours.
Our class sizes range from 12-15 students per class with teacher-to-child ratios, ranging from 1:6, to 1:12, depending upon the age of the child. With our large staff of 23 professional early childhood educators, we are able to individualize our curriculum for each child. We also teach to the individual child through peer group placement (meaning that we group children of similar birth date range in each class).
We are a faith-based Christian (Lutheran) program and our preschool children attend chapel and music class weekly. We consider ourselves both an academic and developmental program. Children are introduced to weekly activities in the following area of study: bible lessons, language arts, science, reading readiness, physical education, social studies, concept learning through learning centers, phonics, arts and crafts, mathematics, music, rhythms, creative movement, cooking, health and safety and literature.
Our curriculum includes:
· Letter(s) and number(s) of the week, monthly color/shape
· Self awareness, safety, health habits, and practical life topics
· Cultural studies and missions projects
We invite you to call or stop by for more information about our program. We schedule tours every Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. or upon request.
