Good Shepherd Lutheran School’s curriculum is firmly established in the understanding and belief that we are a part of God’s creation and that each student’s growth physically, emotionally, academically, and spiritually are parental responsibilities and as a Christian school we seek to assist and support our families at school, in the classroom and on the playground.
Academically, our religion and science curriculum, Voyages and Discovery Works are developed by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and are based on our Lutheran doctrine and scientifically the belief that mankind is the result of God’s creation as taught in the Bible. Our Reading, Writing and Mathematic curriculums are a part of the ABeka series developed through Pensacola Christian Academy and is unashamedly Christian in their approach to education. (www.abeka.com) For Social Studies we use the 2005 Houghton Mifflin curriculum series. Each classroom teacher is allowed the opportunity to supplement their curriculum with appropriate material in order to better equip each student with their individual development as well as their Christian growth and understanding.
Spiritually, our teachers instruct the student’s from a Christian point of view throughout the day and are in agreement with our Lutheran beliefs and doctrine. Knowing Christ as one’s personal Lord and Savior is our highest spiritual goal in teaching all aspects of our school curriculum.
Socially and physically, we guide our student’s to understand their collaborative responsibility to each other as well as to society and help them to develop as productive and responsible Christian citizens and future leaders.
